A clinical study on one case of the woman suffered from both side flank and back pain due to Hydronephrosis during pregnancy

Abstract
|

|
Purpose :Hydronephrosis is the term used to describe dilatations of renal pelvis, and calyx associated with progressive atrophy of the kidney due to obstruction to the outflow of urine. The pregnancy is a kind of the causes of Hydronephrosis. The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental conservative treatment to both side flank and back pain due to Hydronephrosis during pregnancy.
Methods :The patient in this case, 26-year-old, was admitted for 7days(28th/ February/2003 - 6th/March/2003) due to both side flank and back pain on the 6th month of pregnancy. This patient was treated with the acupunture and herb meds.
Results and Conclusion:1. In oriental medicine, external or internal attack of the wind(風), cold(寒), wetness(濕), deficiency of the Qi(氣) and blood, and internal imbalance are related to the flank and back pain due to Hydronephrosis. We thought the patient had a pain because the meridian system of skins and muscles were blocked by external or internal attack of the wind(風), cold(寒), wetness(濕). Therefore, we thought sweating and dehumidifying herbs, - Ganghwal, Dokhwal, Bangpung, etc. - would remove the wind(風), cold(寒), wetness(濕) in the meridian system of the patient and that flank and back pain would be removed. As a result, symtoms are remarkable alleviated. 2. We concluded that it could increase not only well-being of pregnant woman but also quality of life of hers during pregnancy. After this, further study and approach will be needed about the disease of pregnant woman.
